Have Your Say: Help Reverse Harmful Parking Changes in Dover District
Challenging a Decision That Puts Revenue Ahead of Residents
📬 Dear Residents,
Dover District Council has now approved a new Parking Strategy — but rather than a genuine long-term plan, it feels more like a rushed revenue-raising exercise.
Here’s what it means for you:
🚫 A 40% increase in all-day parking charges – from £10.80 to £15.00
🚫 Plans for new pay-and-display charges in currently free rural car parks
🚫 Reduced flexibility for visitors and workers in town centre car parks
These changes will hit our town centres hard — affecting local businesses, pushing up the cost of living, and discouraging people from visiting or shopping locally.
❗ This decision has already been made by the Labour-led administration at DDC. But, we believe it can and should be changed — with enough public pressure.
That’s why we’ve launched this call for an urgent review and reversal of the most damaging parts of this strategy.
